VICE Guide to North Korea

I'm taking sociology in school. Shit's so cash. The idea of sitting in a room talking about the way in which one group affects another group in society probably sounds like a nightmare for some people. I, on the other hand, love every second of it. I even get upset if someone asks a question if it's something we've covered, because I want to hear more. I've spent quite a bit of time watching documentaries like "The Century of the Self" that talk about "public relations" and controlling large groups of people. So this subject is really one I'm drawn to by nature.
One of my favorite documentaries is the "Vice Guide to North Korea". That country is an ENTIRE COUNTRY that has been in a time capsule since the 60's. Modern technology has crept in of course, but the people are cut off from nearly all media. This film is sort-of-kind-of-not-really about mind control too, in that it's simply on display, in action. Amazing stuff. If there was one documentary I would recommend to someone who feels disappointed by their own country, it would be this one. Whenever I think about how screwy America is, I can always remind myself that I wasn't born in North Korea, and feel fortunate again.
Watch it. Comment. Wash your hands. (That's just for hygiene.)

Know Your Meme: Phonetic Translations

Amazing Know Your Meme video about mis-heard lyrics in songs. The mis-heard one I've heard someone sing before is that Jimi Hendix song "Foxy Lady" I think, with the line 'Scuse me while I kiss the sky." was ang,"Scuse me while I kiss this guy."

On a personal note...

I have an orange rubber band that has "organically grown" stamped on it. It probably came from a bunch of broccoli in the produce section of a grocery store. I don't know where I picked it up. I also have a hemp bracelet, hand-made by one of my brothers. It's a simple braided piece of hemp rope with a loop on one end and a knot on the other. These are the only two accessories that I wear. What's weirder is that these items BOTH came into my possession in the last thirty days, and neither of them have any monetary value. I haven't worn so much as a watch in the last year. Yet, I have claimed these two "things" so clearly, that I have a place  in the bathroom for them.  I stuck a thumbtack in the wall above the sink. On which, I display my fashion flare. What's up with this?

Homosexuality: Unnatural?

Nothing is "unnatural". I completely agree with this guy. He makes the argument that nothing is outside of nature including human beings and all that humans create and do. Nature encompasses everything. He happens to be arguing this point in support of Homosexuals' rights. What do you think?

A Place to be inspired: The Famous Failures

A Place to be inspired: The Famous Failures

People of Wal-Mart

1931

This is one of the best websites on the internet, period. One of those simple pleasures in life while going about your day-to-day routine is to see the unique, fiercely independent fashion choices made by our fellow shoppers.
PeopleofWalmart.com provides photographic evidence of a small fraction of these independent thinkers without the risk of entering their habitat. I wanted to include a favorite of mine in this post, but honestly, how can you pick between these? Every specimen is noteworthy for it's own reason, and there is so much win it's hard to stop looking once you get started. :)
